DESCRIPTION
From shamatha (tranquility meditation) to mind training and tonglen, Ngondro, integrative practice, and pith mind instructions to vipashyana (insight meditation), tantra, and Mahamudra, contemplative practice in the Kagyu lineage stresses experiential investigation of mind as a primary vehicle to realizing our true face.
In this intensive practice weekend, we map the adventure that is coming to know mind, right within the thoughts, emotions, and experiences of everyday life alongside formal meditation.
Group sessions will include Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and key instructions for formal practice and post-meditation. Individual practice sessions each day are vital to integrating the material and participating meaningfully in the group sessions.
Participants are encouraged to devote the weekend to the teachings, unplugging from the distractions and busyness which often predominate in modern life, and use the opportunity to listen, contemplate, and meditate, both on and off the cushion.
Leading into this practice weekend, Prajna Fire is offering Sacred Creativity: The Art of Spiritual Continuity, a six week series using guided meditation and experiential inquiry, as well as dynamic activities such as readings, contemplative arts, journaling, and dialogue in small and large groups to foster an inner environment of spiritual discovery. While not required, attending the series will enrich our weekend adventures.
